Chiropractors care for sciatica by removing the irritation to the nerves with gentle treatments called adjustments. These adjustments may be done by hand or by the use of specialized tables and adjusting instuments. This differs from the typical medical approach of attempting to decrease the pain with anti-inflammatory medications that often have severe side effects. In some situations, even surgery will be used.
